Alliance
"I felt a pull to give back to the community in
gratefulness for all the blessings in my life."
"I enjoy being part of a community of committed
holistic people."
"It affords me the opportunity to pay it forward."
"It's our way to give people another way to see the
world we all live in together."
"The Alliance is an opportunity to help people
shift."
"It gives us the opportunity to educate people on
many different healing modalities...all for free."

Wisdom Circle
The inner workings of the Alliance for Holistic Living
are guided by its core members--the Wisdom Circle. This ancient
form of leadership evolved from the days of King Arthur and his fabled
round table--where all present were equal and all ideas respected.
The Wisdom Circle acknowledges both the individual's and the
group's cumulative knowledge, accessing this wealth of experience to
create and focus the intention of the Alliance throughout the community.

Supporter Profiles Supporters are
individuals or organizations that while they are unable to meet the
requirements of a member still are able to assist by offering much
needed services such as Advertising, Signs, Printing, or donations.

Membership Guidelines
Wisdom Circle
1- Duties and
Responsibilities: To keep the Alliance on course with its Vision
and Mission the Wisdom Circle is responsible for overall policy and
direction of the organization. It appoints Committees and selects
those who will serve in Administrative Roles.
2-
Administrative Roles: As the Alliance continues to evolve, it
appears necessary to follow some traditional organizational structure
for administering day-to-day operation. At the present time, Jon Roe
is the Scribe and responsible for creating, distributing and
maintaining Wisdom Circle meeting minutes, as well as tracking
attendance at meetings and events. Kurt Ravenwood is our Technology
Advisor responsible for websites and internal communication.
3- Current
Members: Current Wisdom
Circle Members are General Members who have been regularly attending
monthly meetings and have indicated they wish to be part of the
Circle. They are (10) Kurt and Deborah Ravenwood, Lisa Burch,
Elizabeth Eisenhauer, Karen Affricano, Jon Roe, Pat Hinchey, Norton
Berkowitz Marie Menut, and Michelle Gornish. There can be a maximum of
12 members. A majority (6 at this time) must be present to have a
quorum that can make binding decisions at a Wisdom Circle meeting.
4- Adding
Members: To be a member of
the Wisdom Circle: (a) a General Member will have attended at least
two of the most recent four monthly Alliance meetings; (b) indicate
they wish to be part of the Wisdom Circle and plan to attend future
meetings; (c) be approved in a simple vote by the current members of
the Wisdom Circle. Once the maximum of 12 has been reached, we’ll
review defining a system of rotation that encourages a flow of
membership of the Wisdom Circle.
Membership
1- General
Members: To become a General Member of the Alliance an individual will: (a)
attend an orientation session provided by the Membership Committee,
and (b) provide information about their skills and interests.
2- Maintaining
Membership: To maintain
membership status individuals will attend three
Alliance-sponsored events or Wisdom Circle meetings (or a combination
of either) each six month period.
3- Supporting
Members: Supporting Members
are those individuals who participate in events from time to time, but
do not attend three events and/or Alliance meetings each six month
period. We appreciate their contributions and want to include them in
our community. So that they understand the organization everyone will
attend an Orientation Session before participating in an
Alliance-sponsored event meeting.
Membership Committee
1.
The Membership Committee will be responsible for reviewing the
Alliance’s foundation, core values, mission and vision statements, and
operation with prospective members. Deborah and Kurt Ravenwood are
acting as the Membership Committee for the Alliance.
2.
The MC is willing to meet with individuals or groups on an “as
needed basis” to accommodate scheduling.
3.
If an individual is interested in joining the Alliance as a
General Member, the MC will explore with them what type of contribution
they are willing to offer, i.e., service to the community, education,
etc.; and will collect a Personal Inventory of Skills and Experience
listing their biographical information and modalities practiced
4.
Membership information (guidelines, etc.) will be posted on the
Alliance website. Individuals will be directed to contact the MC if
they are interested in joining the Alliance.
5.
The MC will keep the Wisdom Circle apprised of their actions.
Meetings
1. Alliance
Meetings will be held on the second Friday of each month from 9:00 am to
11:00 am. (Note: During 2009 this time slot will be utilized for Wisdom
Circle Meetings until the structure/organization of the Alliance has
been clearly defined).
2. Alliance
meetings are open to all members; matters are decided by consensus of
the group present. Policy or operational matters will be referred to the
Wisdom Circle.
3. Wisdom Circle
Meetings will be held, as needed, to discuss overall policy and
direction. These meetings are open to Wisdom Circle members only and
issues will be decided by consensus.
4. Open House
Informational Meetings will be held quarterly and are open to the
general public as a means to acquaint them with the Alliance – its
Mission and Vision, etc. No orientation is required.
